Aluminium 6061 has magnesium (0.8–1.2%), silicon (0.4–0.8%), copper (0.15–0.4%), chromium (0.04–0.35%), and trace elements. In the T6 temper, it has tensile strength of 290–350 MPa, yield strength of 240–300 MPa, and Brinell hardness of approximately 95 HB. It is heat-treatable, possessing high strength along with good fatigue resistance, and excellent corrosion resistance in atmospheric as well as marine environments. It provides good weldability and machinability as well.
