Aluminium 2014 is alloyed with copper (3.9–5.0%), silicon (0.5–1.2%), manganese (0.4–1.2%), magnesium (0.2–0.8%), and minor elements. When in T6 temper, it has tensile strength of 400–483 MPa, yield strength of 275–414 MPa, and Brinell hardness of about 120 HB. It is heat-treatable, providing high fatigue life and machinability but only poor corrosion resistance and must be coated in hostile conditions.
